Equestrian Riders Ansley Grainger, Hattie Saltonstall Pick Up Wins at Atlanta Fall Classic
CONYERS, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design equestrian rider Ansley Grainger was named Champion of the Adult Hunters 18-35 year old competition aboard the SCAD horse "Sculpture" at the Atlanta Fall Classic that was held Nov. 12-16 at the Georgia International Horse Park, site of the 1996 Olympics for equestrian.

Grainger was also Reserve Champion on her second mount, "Rococo". Both horses finished in the top 10 of the SCAL $10,000 Adult Hunter Classic.

Hattie Saltonstall won a class in the Adult Hunters and was second in another on the SCAD horse "Art and Design". Saltonstall also finished third place in the $10,000 SCAL Adult Hunter Classic.

Jordan Siegel won a class on another SCAD horse, "Art History". She also finished in the top 10 of the Adult Hunter Classic.

SCAD returns to intercollegiate action Saturday (Nov. 22) when they travel to Charleston, S.C., for the College of Charleston Horse Show at Storybook Farms.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
