Bees finish in sixth place at Hatter Invitational

DELAND, Fla. -
The Savannah College of Art and Design women's cross country team competed at the Sodexho Stetson Hatter Invitational Friday (Oct. 16) evening at the Sperling Sports Complex.

The Bees finished sixth out of 20 teams in the 5K race with 213 points. The University of North Florida won the competition with 57 points..

Sarah Caskey had the top finish for the Bees in the race with a time of 19:17, good for 15th place out of 174 runners. Tracy Koch came in 24th place with a time of 19:38 followed by Cara Martin (66th, 21:14), Heather Riniker (79th, 21:53), Natalie Johnson (81st, personal best 21:58), Tori Aboud (110th, 23:24) and Lauren Soutar (123rd, personal best 23:50).

SCAD returns to action Oct. 23 at the KSU Owl Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
