LAKELAND, Fla. -
The Savannah College of Art and Design secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming The Sun Conference tournament as the Bees defeated Southeastern University 28-26, 25-18 and 25-17 in a conference volleyball match Saturday (Oct. 31) afternoon.

The Bees improved to 24-6 overall and to 15-2 in the league with the Fire fell to 7-21 and 5-12. SCAD returns to action next Saturday (Nov. 7) with two matches against NCAA Division II opposition in St. Augustine, Fla. The Bees will face Palm Beach Atlantic University at noon before a 5 p.m. contest against Flagler College.

Courtney Shelton and Olympia Haney each tallied nine kills while Jen Drouin added eight more. Allison Regas tallied 27 assists while Ayrnn Nease contributed 13 digs. Regas and Kendall Nichols each recorded four total blocks while Shelton added three.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
