SCAD finished tied for third at Florida Horse Show

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Savannah College of Art and Design equestrian program finished in a three-way tie for second place at the University of Florida Horse Show Sunday (Nov. 1).

College of Charleston won the event with 37 points while SCAD, the University of Central Florida and University of Miami (Fla.) each tallied 30.

The Bees recorded two first-place finishes and added three second-place finishes. Kelse Bonham came in first  first in open equitation over fences while Kristin Ridge was first in walk/ trot. Paul Frederick (intermediate flat), Hannelore McElheny (open flat) and Holly Huitt (intermediate fences) each placed second in their event.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week
XinYu  Shang

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
