SAVANNAH, Ga. - Volleyball player Allison Regas has been selected the Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending Nov. 15 at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Regas, a 6-foot-1 senior setter from Jacksonville, Fla., led the Bees to the 2009 The Sun Conference Tournament championship with wins over Webber International University in the semifinals and over tournament host and No. 1 seed Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University. With the title, SCAD earned the league's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship. It is the fifth time in the past six years that the Bees have captured the conference/region tournament.

For the week, Regas hit .536 as she had 15 kills in 28 swings with no errors. She also distributed 66 assists and added 13 digs with five total blocks. In the title match against the Eagles, Regas had 10 kills, 25 assists, six digs and two total blocks.

The Bees (28-7) return to action as they travel to Mobile, Ala., Saturday (Nov. 21) for the opening round of the NAIA National Championship. SCAD will face Gulf Coast Athletic Conference champion University of Mobile in the 5 p.m. Central time match. The winner advances to the NAIA National Championship finals site Dec. 1-5 in Sioux City, Iowa.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week
XinYu  Shang

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
