CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Savannah College of Art and Design equestrian team finished in second place at the College of Charleston Horse Show Saturday (Nov. 21) afternoon at Storybook Farms.

The defending region champions and host school College of Charleston won the 10-team event with 39 points, eight more than the Bees. As they break for the holidays, the Cougars regained the overall point lead in the IHSA Zone 5, Region 3 standings over SCAD by six points (149-143).

Chelsea McCarthy was named the reserve high point rider in the event as she won the open equitation over fences and second in open flat. Kelse Bonham (open flat), Courtney Squibb (novice fences) and M.J. Thompson (beginner walk-trot-canter) also picked up wins for SCAD.

Paul Frederick (intermediate flat), Taylor Brown (novice flat), Echo Wilcox (novice fences), Lindsay Rosentrater (advanced walk-trot-canter), Wade Fuller (advanced walk-trot-canter) and Kristin Ridge (walk-trot) each earned second-place finishes. Bonham (open fences), Squibb (novice flat) and Hayley Bolton (intermediate fences) tallied third-place finishes.

SCAD will return to action Jan. 30 when the Bees travel to Brooklet, Ga., for the Georgia Southern University Horse Show.
