SAVANNAH, Ga. - The current Savannah College of Art and Design men's golf team defeated the SCAD alumni team to claim the 2009 SCAD All-America Matches Sunday (Nov. 22) at the Wilmington Island Club,

The Bees, who won the inaugural event in 2005, outscored the All-Americans 5.5-3.5 in the singles to win the event for the second time by a score of 12-7. The All-America matches are a three-day event that pits the current team against SCAD's former All-Americans in Ryder Cup format.

SCAD returns to intercollegiate competition when they travel to Sebring, Fla., Feb. 8 for the Start-2-Finish Invitational.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week
XinYu  Shang

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
