ALBANY, Ga. -
The Savannah College of Art and Design women's swimming team defeated Darton College 174-103 Saturday (Nov. 21) afternoon.

The Bees improved to 2-1 and will be back in action Dec. 3 as SCAD hosts the annual College Invitational at the Chatham Country Aquatic Center.

The Bees had the fastest times in 11 of the 16 events competed against the Cavaliers, including both relays.

SCAD had two multiple winners in the meet as Jill Jeffries and Tori Aboud each won two events.

Jeffries won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:07.89) and 500 freestyle (5:27.77) events while Aboud tallied victories in the 200 freestyle (1:58.29) and 100 freestyle (55.58) events. Mary Ashley Krogh (50 backstroke, 29.69), Liz Roberts (50 breaststroke, 31.88), Heather Librizzi (100 butterfly, 1:01.01), Kaycee Corso (100 breaststroke, 1:08.21) and Melanie Futscher (100 individual medley, 1:03.52) picked up the other wins for SCAD.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
