KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Savannah College of Art and Design's Natalie Johnson has been named a Daktronics-NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete.

Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify. There were a total of 254 runners named to the team.

Johnson, a 5-foot-7 junior from Memphis, Tenn., recorded four top-20 finishes in the six races that she competed for the Bees this fall. Her best finish of the season was an eighth-place result at the Sand Shark Invitational back in September. Johnson, who has a 3.60 cumulative grade point average as an architecture major, also recorded her personal-best 5K time of 21:58 at the Hatter Invitational in October.

SCAD, which finished in second place in The Sun Conference in 2009, had two runners qualify for nationals this season. It was the sixth consecutive year that SCAD has had representation at nationals.
