SCAD signs Claire Partlow

Claire Partlow is the first signee for the defending NAIA national champions.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design women's swimming coach Wes Sinclair announced the signing of Claire Partlow to a grant-in-aid to compete for the Bees next season.

Partlow, a 5-foot-5 swimmer from Brownsburg, Ind., has swum the past four seasons at Brownsburg High School for coach Josh Saylor. She has been named the Hendricks County Champion in the 200-yard freestyle relay (twice), 200 freestyle (twice), 500 freestyle (once) and 100 butterfly (once). She was named the sectional champion and state qualifier in the 500 freestyle once as well as being a state qualifier in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay once each. She currently holds the school record in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.

Partlow has also been a member of the Brownsburg Swim Club under the direction of Saylor since 1998.

"Claire is an outstanding young swimmer," said Sinclair. "She will help contribute in the in the freestyle events ranging from the 100 all the way up to the 500. She could have an immediate impact on several of our relays as well."

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
