HARDEEVILLE, S.C. -
Three second-half goals were the difference as the Savannah College of Art and Design men's soccer team shut out Warner University 3-0 Saturday (Nov. 7) afternoon in a semifinal match of the
2009 The Sun Conference Tournament at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

En route to their eighth shutout of the season, the Bees, the tournament's No. 2 seed, improved to 12-3-2 while the third-seeded Royals ended their season at 10-6-1. SCAD advances to Friday's (Nov. 13) title match against No. 1 seed Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University, which advanced over St. Thomas (Fla.) University in sudden-death penalty kicks 5-4 after the teams battled to a 1-1 draw. The title match will be played in Daytona Beach, Fla. at a time to be determined.

After a defensive-minded first half, SCAD broke through with just over 20 minutes remaining when Dan Fadida served a ball into the ball that Karl Sjostrom headed into the goal and past Warner goalkeeper Jonathan Romero, who had turned away a Fadida penalty kick in the first half. It was Sjostrom's fourth strike of the season.

The Bees added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute as Fadida found the back off the net off an Ellert Hreinsson assist. It was Fadida's eighth goal. Hreinsson added the final goal for SCAD with just over a minute remaining as he scored his 13th goal of the season off a rebound of Sjostrom's initial shot.

SCAD outshot Warner 13-4, including a 9-2 advantage in the second half. Goalkeeper Robbie Wright recorded his second shutout for the Bees as he recorded a save while Romero had four saves.
