SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design women's golf coach Amanda Workman has announced that Alexa Osbourn has signed a grant-in-aid to play for the Bees next season.

Osbourn, who is from Overland Park, Kan., played golf for four seasons at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. Osbourn, who was an All-Eastern Kansas League performer three times, finished in the top 10 at regionals all four seasons (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009) and was twice named all-state (2008, 2009). As a team, the Saints won the Kansas 5A girls state championship for the third consecutive time in 2009 - the only team in the last 30 years to win the state title three years in a row.

"I am very excited to announce the signing of Alexa to our team for the 2010-2011 season," said head coach Amanda Workman. "Alexa comes from a great golf dynasty at her high school and is a very competitive player.
She has worked tirelessly over the last year reshaping her game. She also has a very fun, contagious personality. She is a joy to be around and will be a great addition and fit to our program. Most importantly, she loves SCAD. It will be great to finally get her on campus and see her excel as a student-athlete."

SCAD, which is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, opens its spring schedule Feb. 6 when they will travel to Kiawah Island, S.C., for the Kiawah Island Women's Golf Intercollegiate.
