Bees in fourth place after day one of Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. -
The Wingate University men's swimming team leads after the first day of the SCAD College Invitational Thursday (Dec. 1) evening at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

The Bulldogs led the nine-team men's meet with 140 points, 40 more than Darton College. SCAD is in fourth place with 57 points after four events in the 18-event, three-day event.

Kelly Curl had the top individual finish for SCAD as he came in seventh place in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:28.22.

The Invitational continues Friday (Dec. 4) with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 5 p.m. Events to be competed include the 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
