SAVANNAH, Ga. -
The Wingate University women's swimming team leads after the first day of the SCAD College Invitational Thursday (Dec.1) evening at the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

Wingate holds a 31-point advantage over host Savannah College of Art and Design, which are the defending NAIA national champions, (134-101) in the 12-team field after two events in the 18-event, three-day event.

Jill Jeffries recorded the best finish for the Bees as she came in fourth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:11.86), just ahead of teammate Nicole Dumont (18:13.53) in fifth. Tori Aboud also finished in eighth place in the event with a time of 18:45.28.

The Invitational continues Friday (Dec. 4) with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 5 p.m. Events to be competed include the 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay.
