SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design men's lacrosse coach Michael Cummings has announced that Matt Dean has signed a grant-in-aid to play for the Bees in 2011.

Dean, a 5-foot-10 attack from Jacksonville, Fla., has played lacrosse for the last two seasons at Creekside High School for coach Joseph Byrns. Dean scored 49 goals and assisted on 11 others last season as a junior for the Knights. He has also attended the adidas All-American and the Southern Combat 99 Showcases.

"Although fairly new to the game, Matt is a well-rounded player, who possesses speed, quickness, field vision and solid stick skills," said Cummings. "We expect Matt to become an impact player upon his arrival to SCAD as well as continue to make big strides as a student-artist-athlete."

The Bees open their 2010 season Feb. 4 with a 7 p.m. Southeastern Lacrosse Conference match against the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
