Bees crystalizes 65-50 win over Webber International

Krystle Remigio scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the second half as the Savannah College of Art and Design women's basketball team held off Webber International University 65-60 Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon at the Ron Love Athletic Center on the campus of Savannah High School.

The Bees improved to 13-12 overall and to 4-7 in The Sun Conference while the Warriors slipped to 13-9 and 4-6. SCAD concludes the regular season next Saturday (Feb. 21) when they entertain Edward Waters College in a 2 p.m. home contest.

Webber International took its largest lead of the second half - seven points (32-25) when Cindy Eurie nailed a layup with 18:29 to play. SCAD battled back to regain the lead at 46-45 on two Remigio free throws with 8:16 remaining. SCAD took control of the game with a 14-2 run as SCAD took a 56-47 lead on a fast break basket by Shareese Richardson three minutes later.

However, the Warriors closed within two points (60-58) on an Ashley Butler layup with 2:13 to play. However, the Bees held Webber International at bay as Remigio, who was 4-of-5 from long distance, nailed a desperation three-pointer from the top of the key as the shot clock expired with 53 seconds left.

Katie Stover added a double double - 15 points, 12 rebounds - for the Bees while Richardson added 10 points. Janay Wilson contributed nine points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in the win. Butler led the Warriors with 19 points.
