Warriors eliminate Bees 63-54 in conference tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –  Nikki King and Ashley Gabbert each registered double doubles as Webber  International University eliminated the Savannah College of Art and Design 63-54 in the first round of the 2009 The Sun Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Thursday (Feb. 26) afternoon at the Edward Waters Sports & Music Complex.

The Warriors improved to 15-10 and will advance to face top seed St. Thomas (Fla.) University in a 5 p.m. semifinal Friday (Feb. 27) while the Bees ended their season at 14-13. The Warriors eliminated the Bees from the conference tournament for the third consecutive season.

King led Webber International with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Gabbert tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds. Janay Wilson led the SCAD offense with 14 points and nine rebounds while Katie Stover contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Shareese Richardson registered 12 points and Britteny Terry grabbed 15 rebounds.
