Mula, John lead Bees past Furman 17-9

Nicole Mula scored seven times against Furman.
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Nicole Mula and Allie John combined to score 12 goals as the Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse team defeated Furman University 17-9 Monday (March 30) afternoon.

The Bees improved to 5-9 and will return to action Saturday (April 4) when they host Clemson University (2 p.m.) and the University of Miami (Fla.) (4:30 p.m.) in two matches at the SCAD Athletics Complex. With the win, SCAD established a new college record for wins in a season.

Mula led the Bees with seven goals while John put five more in the net. Kim Caltagirone, Samantha North, Chelsea Bernardo and Nicole Burns each tallied a goal while Jaclyn Scott and Caltagirone each registered an assist.

Goalies Khylen Steward and Lauren Alexander each recorded a save for the Bees.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
