Kelse Bonham
Kelse Bonham was named Reserve National Champion in open flats.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Savannah College of Art and Design wasted little time bringing home some hardware on the first day of the 2009 Intercollegiate Horse Show National Championship Thursday (April 23) at Miller Coliseum.

Kelse Bonham, a freshman from Eolia, Md., was named Reserve National Champion in the open equitation over fences. Bonham, who was named the individual champion at the 2009 American National Riding Commission's Intercollegiate Equitation Championship April 19, gave the Bees their seventh ISHA individual in the program’s history and first since the 2006 event.

SCAD, which has four riders competing in the national championship that runs through Saturday (April 25), had two others compete on the first day.  Meredith Gallagher was eighth in open equitation over fences while Hannelore McElheny finished in ninth place in intermediate equitation on the flats.
