Auburn rallies in second half for 12-10 win

Auburn University scored eight goals in the second half to rally for a 12-10 decision over the Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse team Sunday (April 5) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

The Bees ended the season at 6-11. The six wins mark the most ever in the history of the program. It was also the final match for four seniors - Nicole Mula, Allie John, Leah Pluger and Brittany May.

SCAD jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 26:47 left in the first half as Mula, Jaclyn Scott and Samantha North each found the back of the net against the Tigers. Auburn scored four of the next six goals to pull within 5-4 with 13:18 remaining in the half. Mula, who finished with five goals, scored the next two as the Bees closed out the first half with four unanswered goals to take a 9-4 lead at the break. North, who scored four times, contributed the final two goals in the half.

Auburn started the second half with two goals before Mula scored the final goal of the match for the Bees with 24:32 left in the match to give SCAD a 10-6 lead. The Tigers responded with six unanswered goals - three from Katie Hacker, two from Jessica Wallace and one from Elizabeth Boyd - to rally for the win.

Khylen Steward recorded 15 saves in goal for the Bees.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
