Bees add 10 players for 2010 season

The Bees will welcome 10 new players for the 2010 season.
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse coach Nicole Pritchard announced the addition of 10 players for next season.

"The incoming class is the biggest and most talented in program history," said Pritchard. "Each of the girls is going to add depth to our lineup and will help establish our program on the national level. We are so excited to have them as members of the SCAD athletics family."

Hannah Cryne, a 5-foot-5 defense/attack from Milton, Del., has played lacrosse for two seasons at Sussex Technical High School.

Devin Dorsey, a 5-8 attack from Davidsonville, Md., played lacrosse for four seasons at South River High School. She helped the Hawks advance to the region finals in 2009 as South River went 13-3. She has also played lacrosse for the CCLax club program.

Alana Haddox, a 5-4 defense from Centreville, Md., played lacrosse for one season at Queen Anne's County High School. Haddox has also played lacrosse for the Shore Velocity club program.

Elizabeth Hubbell, a 5-7 defense from Charlotte, N.C., played lacrosse at Charlotte Catholic High School. She has been named to all-conference and all-state teams and also served as team captain for two years. She had seven goals and four assists for 11 points while accumulating 180 ground balls, 54 draw controls and 53 forced turnovers. She also plays lacrosse for the Team Charlotte club program.

Elaina Jacob, a 5-3 attack from Battle Creek, Mich., played lacrosse for both Harper Creek High School and Battle Creek Women's Lacrosse club teams.

Britney Lukowski, a 5-10 midfield/defense from Catonsville, Md., played lacrosse for two seasons at Centennial High School, which won the region championship in 2008. She also plays for the Maryland & District of Columbia club program.

Nicole Narkiewicz, a 5-6 defense from Winter Springs, Fla., played lacrosse for Winter Springs High School. Narkiewicz, who transfers to SCAD after a season at the University of Central Florida, was named to the all-conference team as well as being team captain during her senior season.

Kathleen O'Hara, a 5-8 goalie from Scarsdale, N.Y., played lacrosse for three seasons at Scarsdale High School. She was named to the all-league team in 2008 as she recorded 124 saves. She also played two seasons for the Westchester Elite Club Lacrosse program.

Alexis Spaide, a 5-5 defense/midfield from Ellicott City, Md., played lacrosse for three seasons at Centennial High School. Spaide helped Centennial win the region championship in 2008 and was named the team's captain in 2009.

Sophie Spivack, a 5-6 defense from McLean, Va., played lacrosse for four seasons at Langley High School. She helped Langley capture league district championships in 2007 and 2008. She has played the past two seasons for the Maryland & District of Columbia club program.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
