Bees to hold two prospective student weekends this fall

The Bees will hold two prospective student weekends this fall.
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse team will be hosting two prospective student weekends this fall.

The first weekend will be Sept. 24-26 while the other opportunity will be Oct. 1-3.

The weekend will include:
  • Tours of SCAD buildings
  • Financial aid and scholarship information
  • Portfolio counseling
  • Individual appointments with admission
  • Attend a SCAD class
  • Meet coaching staff and team 
  • Lacrosse tryouts
  • Overnight with lacrosse player
The weekend is a great opportunity for high school students to experience the life of a SCAD student-artist-athlete.

Hotel Accommodations can be made at the Inn at Ellis Square (rates as low as $85 per night).

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.
Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang  has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28. 

 

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
