SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah College of Art and Design volleyball coach
Melissa Batie announced the signing of
Pammy Craigle to a grant-in-aid to play for the Bees in 2010.
Craigle, a 5-foot-10 right-side hitter/setter from Greenville, N.C., played volleyball for four seasons at Rose High School.
Craigle help lead the Rampants to back-to-back North Carolina Class 4A State Championship titles in 2008 and 2009 as Rose went 53-1. The 2009 squad was ranked 13th in the nation according to MaxPreps and 19th in the ESPN Rise Fab 50 and 26th by PrepVolleyball. Craigle, who was named the Tachikara National Player of the Week in Oct. 2009, was a three-time all-conference performer. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 state tournament.
Craigle, who holds three school records - assists in a match (51), consecutive serves in a game (24) and consecutive aces (14), registered 1,337 assists (third most in school history), 386 digs (ninth most), 343 kills, 138 service aces (fourth most) and 76 blocked shots in her career.
"Pammy is a very versatile volleyball player," said Batie, who was named the 2009 The Sun Conference Coach of the Year. "Not only will she compete for the starting right-side position but she has the ability to set or swing on the outside. She is an all-around player with great court awareness and ball control."
Craigle has also played for the East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club since 2005. She has helped the club to two USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championship appearances - 2008 with the 16 American team and 2009 with the 17 Open team. She was named to the All-Tournament team in 2008 and she helped the 2009 squad to a national ranking of 26th in the country.
SCAD earned its fifth trip in the past six seasons to the NAIA National Championship when the Bees won the 2009 The Sun Conference Tournament. The Bees went 28-8 last season and tied the university record for wins in a season.
