HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Savannah College of Art and Design women's lacrosse continued their offensive barrage Sunday (Feb. 21) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex as they defeated Methodist University 23-6.
The Bees, who scored 20 or more goals for the second consecutive match, improved to 2-0 while the Monarchs fell to 0-1. SCAD returns to action Sunday (Feb. 28) at 1 p.m. when they host Saint Vincent (Pa.) University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the match as
Kim Caltagirone scored twice and
Jaclyn Scott added another goal. After Methodist got a goal back from Alexa Veeder with 21:13 remaining, SCAD scored four more goals – three from
Nicky Mula - to take a 7-1 lead with 11:18 left.
After Amber Jurkovac scored a goal for the Monarchs, SCAD took control of the match as they score the final six goals of the half to take a 13-2 lead at the half and never looked back.
Mula led the SCAD attack, which outshot Methodist 33-14, with seven goals while Caltagirone tallied four.
Chelsea Bernardo found the back of the net three times while
Devin Dorsey, Scott and
Allie Page recorded two goals.
Britney Lukowski,
Nicole Burns and
Alexis Spaide each had a goal for the Bees.
Khylen Steward had five saves in goal for the Bees.
