Friday's Voorhees doubleheader postponed

SCAD will return to action Saturday with noon doubleheader against Shorter College at Grayson Stadium.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Friday's (Feb. 5) baseball doubleheader between the Savannah College of Art and Design and Voorhees College at Historic Grayson Stadium has been postponed due to the expected rain that will fall in the Coastal Empire during the day.

The makeup date for the games will be announced at a later date.

SCAD (1-3) will return to action Saturday (Feb. 6) at noon when they host Shorter College in a noon doubleheader at Grayson.

Reed Publications Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah College of Art and Design men’s swimmer Alex Graudins has been named the Reed Publications SCAD Student-Artist-Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Graudins, a freshman from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, won two of the three individual national titles for the Bees last week at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in St. Peters, Mo.

Graudins claimed the first national title for the Bees as he won the 500-yard freestyle in a university-time of 4:27.44. He lowered his own record by nearly six seconds in the win. Graudins also broke his own university record as he won the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 15:42.28. He nearly had another win for the Bees as he came in second place in the 200 freestyle in a university-record time of 1:39.45.

As a team, the Bees finished in fifth place at the meet.

Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - XinYu Shang has been named this week's Reed Publications Intramural Athlete of the Week ending March 7.

Shang, who is the team captain for Team C.S.A. (Chinese Student Association), scored 34 points in the Intramural B Division Championship Tournament Feb. 28.

C.S.A. narrowly defeated Free Agent Two in the semifinal game 47-42 before defeating the Ballers 49-39 for the championship title.
