Bees tied for seventh at Eagle Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
The Savannah College of Art and Design men’s golf team is in a tie for seventh place after the first round of the Eagle Invitational Saturday (March 13).

The 18-team field couldn’t finish the second round before darkness fell and will return to the course for a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start Sunday (March 14) to complete the round and then will continue on to the final round.

The Bees, who are ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, shot a round of 308 (+20) on the par 72, 6,764-yard layout at The Club at Pelican Bay North Course.

Southeastern University, which is ranked No. 19 in the NAIA, leads the tournament at 296 (+8) as four of the Fire golfers shot under 76. Southeastern leads Brevard Community College by a stroke while No. 5 University of South Carolina Beaufort is third at 299 (+11).

Greg Richards had the best round of the day for the Bees with a 74 (+2) and is tied for seventh place. Tom Hayes carded a 76 (+4) and is tied for 25th. Loren Bunting and Scott Melton are tied for 46th after firing rounds of 79 (+7) and Mika Becktor shot an 82 (+10) and is tied for 68th place.

Brevard’s Frank Berznanskis leads the 108-player field with a one-under par 71.
