HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The Savannah College of Art and Design men’s lacrosse team won their fifth consecutive match as they defeated Georgia State University 21-2 Saturday (March 13) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The 20th-ranked Bees improved to 6-3 and will return to action Saturday (March 20) with a 5 p.m. contest against Palm Beach Atlantic University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
Jordy McManus led the potent SCAD offense with eight goals and six assists.
Shelton Polka contributed six goals, three assists and six takeaways.
Derek Shurson had three goals while
Mike McQuaid had two.
Justin Sicard, who led SCAD with 12 ground balls, and
A.J. Getz each tallied a goal. Shurson and Sicard, who won 21 of the 26 face-offs taken, each had two assists while McQuaid,
Dan Ogren and
Keaton Monroe had one.
Wade Winebrenner recorded three saves as the Bees held the Panthers without a goal in the first half while
Carlos Marquez recorded five saves in the second half as Georgia State finally broke into the scoring column.
Dan Comite led the defense with nine grounds balls and six takeaways.
Darren Martin had five ground balls and three takeaways while
Cody Hoerauf had two ground balls and two takeaways.
Evan Hart also had four ground balls.
