Bees finish in eighth place at Eagle Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
The Savannah College of Art and Design women’s golf team finished in eighth at the Eagle Invitational Sunday (March 14).

The Bees, who are ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, shot a round of 348 on the par 72, 5,977-yard layout at The Club at Pelican Bay South Course to finish the 36-hole event with a score of 689. No. 2-ranked and tournament host Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University won the 15-team field with a score of 641, seven better than second-place Boston College.

Nikki Stewart and Katina Ruest recorded top-20 finishes for the Bees. Ruest finished in a tie for 16th place at 167 as she carded an 86 while Stewart placed in a tie for 20th at 168 as she shot an 87. Andrea Perez tied for 22nd place as she shot the low round of the day for SCAD with an 85. Mary-Michael Burns shot a 90 and finished in a tie for 53rd place at 185 while Amelie Mogard finished in 65th at 190 after registering a 94.

The Bees also had two golfers competing as individuals. Lovissa Emmanuelsson and Jenna Schupska tied for is tied for 66th place at 191. Schupska shot a round of 88 while Emmanuelsson had a 98.

Embry-Riddle’s Carrie Rowe earned medalist honors in the 80-player field as she finished the tournament at 152.

SCAD returns to action March 29 when they will host the SCAD Spring Invitational at the Wilmington Island Club.
