SCAD Beats the Rains and Warner University Too - 8-4

3/31/2012 11:45:00 PM

The SCAD Women were only able to complete the first game of a scheduled double-header with conference rival Warner University.  The rains came and even shortened the first game to five innings. which the Bees won 8-4.

How they did it was a feast for sore eyes.  The game was a very exciting one because SCAD came back from a 3-run deficit to win with two outs in their last at bat.  It doesn't get much better than that.

Game Results

Olivia Kline pitched the first four innings giving up only two hits.  But one of those hits was a grandslam homerun that gave the Warriors a 4-1 lead.  But before Mother Nature could do her worst, the Bees had opportunity to do her best.  The fourth inning started out poorly.  With the storm clouds looming,  Kline singled with one out.  When the second out was made and the Bees down by three there were some who thought that the chances of winning the game was lost.  But then the flood gates opened.  And we are not talking about the weather.

Taylor Thomas was hit by a pitch.  Erica Garcia doubled, knocking in SCAD's first run of the inning.  Score 4-2.  Kayla Myles walked.  Sirana Singh singled in a run.  Score 4-3.  Kylie Rash had a big hit.  With her single she knocked in two runs, putting SCAD ahead 5-4.  The Bees were not yet finished.  Brittany Gonzalez singled in two more runs.  Score 7-4.  The Bees sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth.  The scoring was climaxed by another single by Kline to knock in the seventh run of the inning.  When the inning was over SCAD held an 8 to 4 advantage.

Coach Knecht decided to bring in Sydnee Schorr to seal the deal.  And she did.  She retired the Warriors in their fifth and the game was official.  Then the rains came.  The game was called after a long wait.  The second game was cancelled and will not be made up.  But there was a lot of good news today.  Olivia Kline raised her record to 5-0 and the Bees are 17-1 overall and 5-0 in conference.  Way to go Bees!

Kylie Rash and Erica Garcia provided a pretty good offensive punch in the five innings of play.  Rash went 2-3 with 1 run scored and 3 RBIs.  Garcia went 2-2 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Way to go Bees!

Next up for the Bees is a single game on 4/6 against another conference rival, St. Thomas University.  Game time is 6 pm at Paulson.  Come and watch our Bees.  They are amazing!
